Why app-free uploads matter
On the wedding day guests are already carrying gifts, flowers, cameras and children. Asking them to install an app, create an account and verify an email is where most photo collections quietly fail — people give up or send a few photos to the group chat afterwards.
Browser upload removes that friction: guests scan the QR code, the album opens in the browser, and they upload without installing anything or logging in. It works on both iPhone and Android.
What guests see: step by step
From scan to finished upload, the flow is short:
- Scan the wedding QR code with the phone camera or a QR app.
- The album opens in the browser with the couple’s names and event details.
- Pick photos or videos — multiple at a time.
- Choose “couple only” before uploading if the photo should stay private.
- A confirmation shows the upload is done; approved photos appear in the public album.
What hosts control
Uploading is only half of it — hosts decide what becomes visible.
- Approve every upload individually, or turn on auto-approval.
- Guests can mark a photo “couple only”: visible only to hosts and admins.
- The public album only ever shows approved photos.
- Unlock originals once after the event; unlocked albums are kept for 3 years.
When an upload fails
Most failures come down to network, file format or how the QR code was printed.
- QR code too small or glossy: print the code at least 5 × 5 cm and avoid dark, shiny or gradient backgrounds.
- Venue Wi-Fi is weak: ask guests to switch to mobile data.
- Video too long or heavy: the short-video limit is 60 seconds / 200 MB — trim longer clips first.
- HEIC photos: update the browser and retry; iPhone photos usually upload directly.
- Still stuck: refresh the page or try another browser.
Privacy and what happens to uploads
Uploads go into that event’s album only. Nothing is shown publicly unless the hosts approve it, and photos marked “couple only” are not visible to co-hosts or the public album.
Free retention is 30 days from the event date; unlocking keeps originals for 3 years from payment. Hosts can organise photos into person folders and send each guest a private link to their own photos.
Before the wedding: a 10-minute checklist
- Create the event with the right date, venue and time zone.
- Download the QR code and put it on the welcome sign, place cards or menus.
- Test one upload from a second phone.
- Brief the wedding party so they can remind guests.
- Put a backup sign near the exit.
Common questions
Do guests need an app to upload wedding photos?
No. Guests scan the QR code and upload in the browser — no login, no install, on both iPhone and Android.
Do guests pay anything?
No. Guests are free throughout. Unlocking originals is a one-time cost for the hosts — no subscription and no per-guest fees.
Can guests upload video?
Yes. Short videos up to 60 seconds / 200 MB; previews are watermarked and originals unlock after payment.
Who can see the uploaded photos?
Only hosts and admins by default. The public album shows approved photos only, and guests can mark a photo “couple only”.
What happens after the free period?
The free retention period is 30 days from the event date. If the album is not unlocked, all related media is deleted; unlocked albums are kept for 3 years from payment.
