Live Wedding Slideshow: Guest Photos on the Big Screen

A live wedding slideshow is not a video you edit the week before — it is guest photos appearing on the venue screen during the celebration. This guide covers the flow, what the venue needs, and how to keep it tasteful. ConstantPhoto is launching soon — join the waitlist.

What is a live wedding slideshow?

A live wedding slideshow (also called a live photo wall) shows guest photos on the venue screen — a TV, projector or LED wall — while the event is happening. It is not a pre-made highlights video; the content comes from photos guests upload on the day.

Because the photos are fresh, guests see their own shots on the big screen, which feels far more interactive than a fixed slideshow — and the couple does not spend the week before the wedding assembling a video.

02

How it works, step by step

The flow can be set up before the wedding; on the day you only need someone to keep an eye on the screen.

  • Guests scan the wedding QR code and upload photos in the browser.
  • The couple or a co-host approves photos (or turns on auto-approval).
  • Approved photos join the album and the slideshow.
  • Open the slideshow on the device connected to the venue screen and play it full screen.
  • Videos are not added to the slideshow — they stay in the album.
03

What you need at the venue

No video export, USB stick or TV app is required. The slideshow runs in a browser and plays full screen.

  • A screen you can play to: venue LED wall, TV or projector.
  • A device connected to the screen: a laptop, or a TV with a built-in browser.
  • A stable network: venue Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot.
  • Power and an HDMI cable if you are connecting physically.
04

Keeping it tasteful: approved photos only

The slideshow only plays approved photos. Hosts can approve every photo, or limit the slideshow to a specific album; photos marked “couple only” never appear on screen.

  • Manual approval: safest, but someone needs to approve in real time.
  • Auto-approval: photos can appear within seconds, so agree the ground rules with the wedding party beforehand.
  • During sensitive moments (speeches, toasts) you can pause or clear the slideshow.
05

Live slideshow vs photo wall vs traditional slideshow

The terms are often used interchangeably. The real difference is where the content comes from: a traditional slideshow video is prepared in advance and fixed; photo walls and live slideshows both show guest photos during the event — they differ mainly in presentation (a wall of photos vs a carousel). ConstantPhoto’s slideshow is a carousel, well suited to the banquet.

06

When to start the slideshow

Start once guests have uploaded a reasonable number of photos — for example during cocktails or partway through dinner. Too early and there are only a few photos; too late and you lose the atmosphere. Follow the venue’s run of show and when guests start uploading.

07

Before the wedding: a quick checklist

  • Test the QR upload and slideshow playback from a second phone.
  • Confirm the HDMI/TV input and network with the venue in advance.
  • Bring a backup power bank and cable.
  • Assign one member of the wedding party to approve photos and run the screen.
  • Put a QR sign on the welcome table.
FAQ

Common questions

Is a live wedding slideshow real-time?

Approved photos appear right away; with auto-approval on, a guest’s photo can show up within seconds. Manual approval needs someone to approve in real time.

Do guests need an app?

No. Guests scan the QR code and upload in their browser — no login, no install.

Does it work on any TV or projector?

It plays in a browser on a device connected to the screen — no native TV app needed, and no pre-rendered video.

Do videos play in the slideshow?

No. The slideshow shows photos only; videos stay in the album and are not added automatically.

Can we control which photos appear?

Yes. Only approved photos play; photos marked “couple only” never appear on screen.
